There are many different types of hookahs in the market. Many are made in Middle East and the rest mostly in China. This means many hookah brands to choose from. Following is a list of the most well known hookah types, brands, and their unique specifications.
Hookah Types
Egyptian Hookahs
- Arguably the best hookahs made.
- Made mostly from steel and occasionally from brass.
- The pull (for smoke) is great and almost effortless.
- Smooth stem shape and style.
- The glass base is of high quality.
- Well known Egyptian type hookahs are Magdy Zidan and Khalil Mamoon.
Syrian Hookahs
- Egyptian hookahs rival.
- Made mostly from brass.
The pull (for smoke) is usually as good as Egyptian.
The stem is shorter so you have to fill more water in the base.
They tend to be heavier and more durable as they are made from brass.
Well known Syrian type hookahs are Nour and Al Fakher.
Chinese Hookahs
- Mostly made out of aluminum and acrylic materials.
- They are lighter and not as durable as Egyptian and Syrian hookahs.
- Their main advantage is their cheap price.
- While they are cheap, they are often well worth the price and smoke well.
- The most well known Chinese type hookah is Mya Saray.
Turkish Hookahs
- They are not often exported to outside Middle East.
- They tend to have the same look and feel of Syrian hookahs.
Iranian Hookahs
- They are not often exported to outside Middle East.
- Their stem is made from brass, steel, or even wood.
- Their glass bases are often decorated with amazing hand paintings.
Famous Hookah Brands
Khalil Mamoon (K.M) Hookahs
- Egyptian type hookahs.
- They are considered one of the best if not the best hookahs.
- Very high quality.
- Excellent smoke.
- Medium to large size hookahs.
- Pricey at average price of over $120.
Magdy Zidan (M.Z) Hookahs
- Egyptian type hookahs.
- Very high quality.
- Excellent smoke.
- They are almost as good as Khalil Mamoons but often much cheaper.
- Medium to large size hookahs.
- Best buy for the money at average price of $75.
Mya Hookahs
- Chinese type hookahs.
- Not as good quality and smoke as K.M or M.Z hookahs but still smoke very well.
- They are great for parties to provide so expensive entertainment.
- Almost always cheaper than K.M and M.Z.
